Thomas Andrews is a Professor of History at the University of Colorado Boulder and Director of the Center of the American West. He specializes in environmental history, the social and environmental history of the American West, animal history, and Indigenous American history. His research emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches, blending labor, environmental, and social history.
Education: B.A. summa cum laude from Yale University, M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
Research Interests: Focuses on the intersection of human societies and natural environments, particularly in the American West. Current projects include a multi-book series on human-animal relationships in U.S. history.
Awards: Winner of the Bancroft Prize for *Killing for Coal*, recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship, and a National Endowment for the Humanities Public Scholars Award.
