Gay Morgan is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Waikato's Te Piringa Faculty of Law. She holds a B.A. in Physics from the University of Colorado, a J.D. (Summa Cum Laude) from the University of San Diego, and an LLM from Yale University. Her career includes work with the Peace Corps in Francophone Africa, the U.S. Court of Appeals, Eighth Circuit, and roles as a legal scholar.
Her research focuses on public law, legal philosophy, constitutionalism, animal law, and environmental law. She explores topics like constitutional legitimacy, moral considerateness of non-human entities, and the interface between law, ethics, and ecology. Notable affiliations include the New Zealand Human Rights Foundation and the Waikato Public Law and Policy Research Unit.
