Grant Watson is a curator and researcher specializing in Curatorial Theory, affiliated with the School of Arts & Humanities at the Royal College of Art. He has held curatorial roles including Senior Curator at the Institute of International Visual Arts (Iniva) (2010–2014), Curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art Antwerp (M HKA) (2006–2010), and Curator of Visual Arts at Project, Dublin (2001–2006). Currently a PhD candidate in Visual Cultures at Goldsmiths’ College, University of London, his research explores transnational art practices and global reception histories of the Bauhaus. He co-curated major exhibitions such as Social Fabric (2012) and Textiles Art and the Social Fabric (2009).
His research interests include critical practice, curatorial methodologies, and the transnational dimensions of modernist movements like the Bauhaus. He leads the bauhaus imaginista project, a global initiative marking the Bauhaus centenary (2019), which examines the movement’s cosmopolitan exchanges and its impact on art education. Recent collaborations include Practice International and Tagore, Pedagogy and Contemporary Visual Cultures.
Grant’s work bridges curatorial practice and academic research, focusing on how art mediates social change and transcultural dialogue. His projects often involve interdisciplinary teams and international institutions, reflecting his commitment to redefining modernism’s global narratives.
