Grant Biedermann is an Associate Professor and Homer L. Dodge Endowed Chair in Atomic, Molecular & Optical Physics at the University of Oklahoma's Homer L. Dodge Department of Physics and Astronomy. He holds a B.S. (2001) from OU, M.S. (2002) from Yale University, and Ph.D. (2007) from Stanford University.
His research focuses on quantum information processing using neutral atoms, with specialties in quantum sensing via atom interferometry and multi-atom entanglement via ultra-cold Rydberg atoms. His lab develops entangled spin states in systems like strontium and cesium, exploring applications in quantum control, matter-wave interferometry, and quantum simulation. Key areas include Rydberg-dressed interactions, programmable glassy dynamics, and scalable quantum networks using optical tweezers.
Recent work emphasizes compact cold-atom interferometers with photonic integrated circuits, suspended membrane waveguides, and high-fidelity quantum gates (e.g., Mølmer-Sørensen gates). He collaborates with universities, companies, and national labs to advance quantum technologies like inertial sensors and quantum simulators.
