Graham W. Wilson is a Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Kansas, where he has served since 2001, progressing from Assistant Professor (2001-2006) to Associate Professor (2006-2014) and finally to full Professor (2014-present). His office is located in Malott Hall, room 6006A at 1251 Wescoe Hall Dr., Lawrence, KS.
Wilson's research focuses on experimental high energy physics with collider experiments. His primary current focus is on the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron proton anti-proton collider, specifically working on the L1 and L2 Central Track Trigger. Much of his earlier career was dedicated to the OPAL experiment at LEP, where he studied electroweak physics and searched for new phenomena through electron-positron collisions. He is also actively involved in efforts to realize the International Linear Collider, having worked extensively on developing its physics case and participating in detector R&D.
- DESY Distinguished Research Award (1995)
- OPAL Trigger Coordinator (1996-2000)
With a strong educational foundation including a PhD in Physics from the University of Lancaster (1987) and a BS in Mathematics and Natural Philosophy from the University of Glasgow (1982), Wilson has established himself as a significant contributor to experimental particle physics. His work bridges theoretical frameworks with practical experimental design in high-energy collider environments.
