Graham Renz

Graham Renz is an Assistant Professor of Philosophy at Marian University in Indianapolis, IN. He holds a PhD from Washington University in St. Louis (2023), an MA from the University of Missouri–St. Louis (2016), and a BS in Biology from Rockhurst University. His research focuses on metaphysics and philosophy of religion, particularly exploring Neo-Aristotelian frameworks. He teaches courses on logic, ancient philosophy (Plato/Aristotle), medieval philosophy (Augustine/Aquinas), and metaphysics.

His research interests include hylomorphism, divine power, and the intersection of metaphysical theories with theological concepts. Notable works address form's ontological status, the nature of God's power, and critiques of agent-based virtue ethics. Dr. Renz advocates for non-religious theistic conceptions in philosophy of religion and has published critiques of object coincidence in metaphysics.

Key contributions include analyses of E.J. Lowe's four-category ontology, defenses of formal unity in complex properties, and arguments against emergent powers in substance theory. He currently serves on Marian University's Teaching and Learning Committee and co-founded the Sophia Club.
