Dr Graeme A. Forbes is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Kent's Department of Philosophy. Previously serving as a Lecturer in Philosophy from 2013 to 2022, he maintains active participation in the philosophical community. His research focuses on the metaphysics of time, particularly the Growing-Block theory, and collaborations with Prof. R.A. Briggs led to the Oxford Studies in Metaphysics Younger Scholars’ Prize (2010). His interests span contemporary analytic metaphysics, philosophical methodology, and historical influences like 1920s-30s analytic philosophy, Pragmatism (Peirce, Putnam), and Phenomenology. He explores practical implications of time in inquiry, organizational change, and intergenerational projects.
Publications include works in Philosophical Studies, Synthese, and interdisciplinary projects like Living Philosophy: Time and Temporality. His scholarship bridges theoretical and applied philosophy, addressing topics from temporal ontology to social ethics. Awards recognize his contributions to metaphysical debates. While no longer teaching at Kent, he continues PhD supervision and engages in public philosophy through podcasts and blogs.
