Dr Grace Sharkey serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Gender and Cultural Studies within the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences at the University of Sydney. Having completed her PhD at the same institution in 2018, she maintains active roles in research, teaching, and academic leadership.
Her research spans three interconnected domains: youth studies with focus on sexual knowledge boundaries, feminist theory engaging controversial figures like incels and Germaine Greer, and queer theory examining intimacy frameworks. Key projects include the Feminist Boys Studies initiative where she explores 'bad boys/good boys' dichotomies and hosts the Boy Trouble podcast.
Teaching responsibilities include gender, youth, and sexuality units in Cultural Studies. As Master of Cultural Studies Internship Officer, she partners with organizations including City of Sydney, State Library of NSW, and ACON. She supervises Honours/Masters/PhD projects in feminist/queer theory, affect studies, and popular culture.
