Grace Haaf is a Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Technology, Operations, and Statistics at the Leonard N. Stern School of Business, New York University, where she rejoined in 2025. She previously taught business analytics at NYU Shanghai and has extensive industry experience in data science and analytics strategy.
Her educational background includes a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University (2014), an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University (2012), and a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Northwestern University (2008).
Her research centers on human-AI collaborative decision-making, decision theory under uncertainty, and the integration of technology, business, and product design. She applies game-theoretic models to analyze agent behavior in mixed human-algorithm environments.
Grace Haaf teaches courses including Business Analytics, Databases for Business Analytics, Marketing Analytics, Projects in Programming, and Statistics for Business and Economics.
She has held significant roles in industry, including rapid evaluator at Google X and analytics consultant at McKinsey & Company, where she developed training programs for advanced analytics. Her expertise includes analytics program strategy, model operationalization, and organizational design for data science teams.
