Dr. Gordon McKelvie is a Senior Lecturer in Medieval History at the University of Winchester's School of Humanities. He holds a PhD from Winchester and advanced degrees from the University of Glasgow. As Programme Leader for the university's Foundation Year, he focuses on developing students' academic skills through core modules while contributing to BA/MA History teaching, including the module HS2310 on The First English Empire.
His research explores late medieval English political society, particularly the impact of 'bastard feudalism' on social relations and rebellion. Key works include Bastard Feudalism, English Society and the Law (2020) and articles examining Anglo-Scottish relations, the Wars of the Roses, and legal frameworks. He is Convenor of the interdisciplinary Centre for Medieval and Renaissance Research and Reviews Editor for Southern History.
