Gokhan Ozkan is a Research Assistant Professor in the Holcombe Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Clemson University since 2021. He joined Clemson University as a Postdoctoral fellow in 2020 and manages the Real-Time COntrol and Optimization Laboratory (RT-COOL).
His educational background includes:
- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Florida State University (2019)
- M.S. in Energy Systems Engineering from Erciyes University (2016)
- B.S. in Energy Systems Engineering from Erciyes University (2014)
- B.S. in Teacher Training in Electrical Works from Marmara University (2006)
His research focuses on advanced control methodologies for power systems and electronics, with core expertise in model predictive control applications for power converters and drives, thermal management systems, fault-tolerant architectures, distributed control frameworks, and real-time simulation techniques. Key application areas include renewable energy integration, smart grid technologies, transportation electrification, and hardware-in-the-loop validation systems.
As Laboratory Manager of RT-COOL, he oversees research in real-time control and optimization for maritime, terrestrial, and vehicular smart systems, utilizing high-fidelity modeling and Controller Hardware-in-the-Loop validation approaches. The laboratory collaborates with national and international partners across academia and industry.
