Masoud Davari serves as Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Georgia Southern University's Allen E. Paulson College of Engineering and Information Technology, where he joined as a tenure-track faculty member in July 2017 after industry experience at Quanta-Technology and Iranian research centers.
His academic credentials include:
- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, University of Alberta (2012-2016)
- M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering (Highest Distinction), Amirkabir University of Technology (2007-2010)
- B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering (Highest Distinction), Isfahan University of Technology (2003-2007)
Dr. Davari's research centers on power converter dynamics and control for renewable-integrated grids, with emphasis on hybrid AC/DC microgrids, protection systems, and energy storage management. His experimental work includes testbed development for distributed generation and meshed MTDC systems using Opal-RT and RTDS real-time simulation platforms.
Recent publications (2023-2025) demonstrate concentrated focus on grid-tied PV systems, inverter control reliability, cybersecurity for power electronics, and machine learning applications in motor control, reflecting evolving trends toward resilient smart grid architectures.
As Principal Investigator, he leads three National Science Foundation projects:
- INNOVATOR: U.S.-Denmark reliability analysis for AC/DC converters in supergrids (2022-2025)
- Innovative voltage source converter operation in critical grid conditions (2019-2021)
- Multi-infeed AC/DC power system integration (2018-2021)
His professional activities include IEEE Working Group P2004 membership for Hardware-in-the-Loop standards and leadership in DC@home Standards literature review, complementing experimental work on microgrid testbeds and controller-hardware-in-the-loop validation systems.
