Gloria Lau is a Lecturer in Landscape Architecture at Cornell University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS). She holds dual Master’s degrees in Landscape Architecture and City Planning from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.S. in Urban and Regional Studies from Cornell University.
Her research focuses on spatial justice, participatory design methods, and the intersections of colonial botany, infrastructure, and public memory. She explores how design practices can address inequities in the built environment through cross-cultural collaboration and community engagement.
Her recent publications examine histories of marginalized communities in urban spaces and strategies for resilient infrastructure. Gloria’s awards include the Create Change Fellowship (2023) and Forefront Fellowship (2019), recognizing her contributions to equitable urban design.
She advises New York City Parks and participates in ASLA’s Diversity Summit. Her design studio, Studio Site and Seek, and art collaborative Laudi CoLab, further her mission to center underrepresented narratives in urban landscapes.
