Glen Kisby, Ph.D., is a Professor of Pharmacology at the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific - Northwest (COMP-NW), Western University of Health Sciences. He joined in 2011 and previously held roles at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), including Associate Professor and Assistant Professor. His research focuses on neurotoxicology, investigating how environmental chemicals contribute to neurodegenerative diseases and neurodevelopmental disorders. A key focus is the cycad genotoxin MAM and its long-term effects on the brain, using human neural stem cells as a model.
Education: Ph.D. in Pharmacology/Toxicology from the University of Texas (1986), B.S. in Pharmacy (Northeastern University, 1980), and B.A. in Chemistry (Bridgewater State College, 1976). He has extensive teaching experience, including developing courses like Principles of Toxicology and mentoring numerous students.
Research grants include leadership in NIEHS projects (2001–2008) and the Oregon Partnership for Alzheimer’s Research (2008–2009). Awards include patents on DNA damage assays (2008). He serves on committees such as the University Research Committee and mentors student research clubs. His work bridges environmental toxicology, neurodegeneration, and translational research, emphasizing early-life exposures' long-term consequences.
