Giuseppe Palazzolo is an Associate Professor of Contemporary Italian Literature at the Department of Humanities, University of Catania. He holds a PhD in Italian Studies with a specialization in Lexicography and Semantics of European Literary Language, and academic degrees in Classics and Modern Philology, all from the University of Catania. On November 29, 2023, he obtained the National Scientific Qualification for Full Professor in the sector 10/F2 – Contemporary Italian Literature.

His research focuses on lexicography, semantic analysis, and hermeneutic reading of literary texts, particularly through concordance methods. He investigates major modern and contemporary Italian authors such as Alessandro Manzoni, Luigi Pirandello, Franco Fortini, and Umberto Eco. Additional interests include biofictional narratives, humanistic computing, and the integration of digital technologies in literature education. His editorial work with Atlas publishing house and involvement in digital editions reflect a strong commitment to innovative scholarly practices.
Giuseppe Palazzolo actively supervises graduate theses and serves as a tutor in the Doctorate in Interpretation Sciences. His leadership in national research projects and teacher training programs underscores his role in shaping both academic research and pedagogical development in Italian literature. He is also engaged in interdisciplinary initiatives such as the POIChILIA project under the PiaCeRi Plan, focusing on power and contagion in Italian literature.
