Giuseppe Martinico

Giuseppe Martinico serves as Full Professor of Comparative Public Law at the Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa, Italy, and co-directs the Sant'Anna Legal Studies programme. Previously, he held prestigious fellowships at Madrid's Centro de Estudios Políticos y Constitucionales (García Pelayo Fellow) and Florence's European University Institute (Max Weber Fellow), with additional affiliations at the Centre for Judicial Cooperation and Centre for Studies on Federalism.

His research spans Comparative Constitutional Law, European Union Law, and Federalism, with recent focus on Populism's constitutional implications and Law-Pop Culture intersections. He has authored four monographs published by Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press, Edward Elgar, and Routledge, alongside numerous peer-reviewed articles in English, Italian, and Spanish. His work explores judicial disobedience, constitutional suspension, and the impact of international courts on democratic resilience.

Recent publications (2024-2025) reveal evolving trends toward analyzing constitutional responses to populism, electoral abstention, and the legal dimensions of graphic narratives. His scholarship increasingly examines how fan culture intersects with copyright law while maintaining rigorous analysis of EU constitutional frameworks and judicial dialogue mechanisms.
