Giuseppe Arbia

Giuseppe Arbia is a Full Professor of Economic Statistics at the Faculty of Economics of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Rome, where he serves as Dean since January 1, 2025. He also holds a position as Lecturer at Università della Svizzera italiana (USI). His academic career spans multiple prestigious institutions including the University of Trento, University of Padua, and University "G. d'Annunzio" of Pescara, along with visiting appointments at numerous international universities such as the University of Cambridge, University of California at Santa Barbara, and New York University.

Professor Arbia's research focuses primarily on Spatial Statistics and Spatial Econometrics, with significant contributions to methodological developments and applications in various fields. He has published five monographs with major academic presses and approximately 200 articles, with an h-index of 33 as of September 2024.

His recent publications demonstrate a clear trend toward interdisciplinary applications of spatial statistical methods, particularly in public health (especially related to the COVID-19 pandemic), economic geography, and medical research. While maintaining his core focus on spatial econometrics methodology, Arbia has increasingly applied these techniques to pressing real-world problems across diverse domains.
