Giuseppe Espa is a Full Professor of Economic Statistics at the University of Trento, Department of Economics and Management, since September 2009. Previously, he served as Associate Professor (2001–2009) and Researcher (1994–2001). He is affiliated with the Faculty of Economics, specializing in Economic Statistics (SECS-S/03). His academic career includes extensive teaching roles, including courses on Statistical Analysis, Spatial Econometrics, and Data Analysis across multiple institutions like LUISS Guido Carli in Rome and the University of San Marino.
Education: He earned a Degree in Statistical and Economic Sciences (cum laude) from Sapienza University of Rome (1991), followed by a PhD in Economic Analysis, Mathematics, and Social Phenomena Statistics (1995).
Research focuses on econometrics, spatial statistics, official statistics, demography, and environmental asset valuation. He has led EU-funded projects (e.g., eSecurity for urban security) and contributed to initiatives like the National Forest Inventory and crime analysis models. He is a member of the Spatial Econometrics Association (SEA) and Società Italiana di Statistica (SIS).
He has supervised numerous theses and coordinated research groups on topics like innovation assessment and e-inclusion impact. His work includes statistical methodologies for spatial clustering analysis and microdata applications.
