Giurka Gantcheva

Prof. Giurka Gantcheva is a Professor in the Department of Gymnastics at the Vassil Levski National Sports Academy (NSA), affiliated with the Faculty of Public Health, Health Care and Tourism. She holds a Ph.D. in Educational and Scientific Research and has over 40 years of academic and professional experience in rhythmic gymnastics. Her career includes roles as Head of the 'Rhythmic and Aesthetic Group Gymnastics' program and supervisor of international students from countries such as Greece, Colombia, and Turkey.

Research Interests: Prof. Gantcheva specializes in rhythmic gymnastics theory, including jumps, coordination, and historical aspects. She emphasizes practical applications in high-performance sport and school physical education. Her work integrates biomechanics, pedagogy, and cultural studies.

Publications & International Work: She has authored over 120 scientific publications and textbooks, including treatises on rhythmic gymnastics techniques and historical analysis. Her international collaborations include guest lectures at the University of Toledo (Spain), University of Murcia (Spain), and the Royal Gymnastics Federation (Belgium). She has also participated in research projects in Brazil and Spain.

Awards & Recognition: As a former athlete, she was awarded the 'Master of Sport' title in 1970 and represented Bulgaria in international competitions, achieving 5th place at the 1973 World Championships. Her academic contributions have shaped rhythmic gymnastics globally.

Advising & Grants: She has supervised Ph.D. students from Bulgaria, China, and Turkey. Her international advisory roles include heading specializations for students from Cuba, China, and Austria. She has also led Erasmus+ mobility programs in France, Spain, and Colombia.
