Анна Божкова

Анна Божкова serves as an Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Education and Sport at the Faculty of General Education, Medical University - Sofia, where she has taught continuously since 2001. She also functions as a guest lecturer at other Bulgarian universities and coaches the university's men's volleyball representative team.

Her academic credentials include a degree from the National Sports Academy "Vasil Levski" in volleyball, a Doctorate (2008), the academic rank of Associate Professor (2010) in Theory and Methodology of Physical Education and Sports Training, and the higher Doctor of Sciences degree in Pedagogy (2015). She additionally holds certification in Aerobics, Calanetics, and Stretching (2011).

Her research spans Physical Education, Sports Science, Kinesiotherapy, Volleyball, Sports Physiology, and Rehabilitation. She has produced over 100 scientific works including 2 dissertations, 3 monographic studies, 8 textbooks, and 97 articles in specialized journals across Bulgaria and internationally, demonstrating consistent scholarly output in sports methodology and therapeutic movement.

She has supervised two doctoral students to successful completion and participated in five research projects, leading two as principal investigator. Her international engagement includes presentations at World Congresses and conferences across Bulgaria, Turkey, Montenegro, Macedonia, Greece, Serbia, and Romania.

As an elite volleyball player from 1984-1997, she achieved championships with "Levski-Spartak" Sofia, third place in the Bulgarian Cup with "Academic" Sofia, and represented Bulgaria in the 1986 World Championship (6th place) and European Championship (3rd place), alongside three Balkan championships and professional stints in Greece and Spain.
