Giulia Anna Bianca BORDI is a Research Fellow at the Department of Philosophy and Cultural Heritage, Ca' Foscari University of Venice, where she contributes to the PNRR Spoke 8 project 'Sacra Absentia' under Professor Simone Piazza. She previously worked on the SPIN project 'ME.MO.RIA' at the same university. She also serves as a teaching assistant for Medieval Art History at Sapienza University of Rome and Ca' Foscari University.
- Education: PhD in Art History (33rd cycle) from Sapienza University of Rome (2022), thesis on 'The liturgical furnishings of central-northern Puglia in the Middle Ages (11th-14th centuries): from Bari to the Terra di Bari'
Her research focuses on medieval liturgical furnishings, lost mural mosaics, and sacred space analysis in Southern Italy and Venice. Current projects include rediscovering material traces in medieval churches and cataloging artistic exchanges between Apulia and the Eastern Adriatic. Her publications span cataloging medieval artifacts, interdisciplinary studies on sacred architecture, and critical reinterpretation of liturgical spaces.
She actively participates in national and international conferences (e.g., Rome, Ostia Antica, Bari, Los Angeles) and collaborates with institutions like the Bibliotheca Hertziana and the International Institute of Catherine Studies (CISC). She co-organized the 2023 seminar 'Building and Experiencing Sacred Space' at Sapienza University.
