Giovanni De Gregorio is the PLMJ Chair in Law and Technology at Católica Global School of Law in Lisbon and an academic fellow at Bocconi University. Previously, he served as a postdoctoral researcher at the Programme in Comparative Media Law and Policy (PCMLP) at the University of Oxford's Centre for Socio-Legal Studies. His research focuses on constitutional law, human rights, privacy, data protection law, and the regulatory challenges posed by algorithmic systems in modern societies.
He has received significant recognition including the 2022 ICON Award, 2021 Common Market Law Review Award, and 2021 Euroconsumer Award. His monograph Digital Constitutionalism in Europe: Reframing Rights and Powers in the Algorithmic Society (Cambridge University Press, 2022) examines the intersection of constitutional principles and digital governance frameworks.
De Gregorio’s work bridges academic scholarship and policy-making, addressing topics such as freedom of expression in digital platforms, data privacy regulations, and the constitutional implications of emerging technologies.
