Giorgio Erle is an Associate Professor in the Department of Philosophy within the Department of Human Sciences at the University of Verona. His academic specialization is PHIL-03/A - Moral Philosophy, with research sectors focusing on Ethics and its applications in social philosophy (SH5_9), Metaphysics and philosophical anthropology (SH5_8), and broader Ethics and social/political philosophy (SH5_12). His office is located in Palazzo di Lettere, Floor 2, Room 2.13.
His primary research interests include:
- Ethics of Harmony - examining the relational and ethical meaning of Harmony in historical and contemporary contexts, both in cosmological perspectives and ethical understanding of musical harmony
- Theories and practices of care - particularly in relation to ethical community and responsibility
- Ethics and Philosophy of Nature - focusing on the relationship between Ethics and Nature in terms of ethical relationships and contemporary philosophical understanding of responsibility
- Moral Thought by German Modern Philosophers - analyzing Leibniz, Kant, Hegel and contemporary positions that reference this philosophical tradition, with recent research on the legacy of German Idealism in contemporary ethical thought (Jonas, Apel)
Professor Erle has maintained a consistent teaching schedule since at least 2002, primarily teaching Ethics of Relation and Moral Philosophy across multiple academic programs. His teaching spans Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD programs, with a notable focus on courses examining ethical values of care, duty of truthfulness, and the ethical community within classical German philosophy and the mind/body problem.
His research projects demonstrate significant continuity in philosophical inquiry:

- La riflessione morale di fronte al mind/body problem (2013)

Administratively, Professor Erle serves as a member of the Faculty Board of PhD in Human Sciences, the Council for the Philosophy Degree Course, and holds the position of Presidente Vicario on the Joint Faculty-Student Committee. He is also associated with the Ethics and Technologies Of the Self (EThOS) research center and participates in third mission activities including public engagement events and continuous training teachings.
