Giora Hon

Prof. Giora Hon is a full Professor of Philosophy at the University of Haifa since 1993 and an institute affiliate in the Department of History of Science at the Technical University of Berlin. His career includes prestigious visiting fellowships at institutions such as the Vienna Circle Institute, MIT’s Dibner Institute, and the Netherlands Institute for Advanced Study (NIAS). He holds a B.Sc. in Physics from Tel Aviv University (1975), an M.Sc. in History and Philosophy of Science from King’s College London (1978), and a Ph.D. from the same institute (1985).

His research focuses on the history of philosophy of science, experimental error, symmetry in scientific history, and the methodology of model-building in natural sciences. Hon has delivered 86 conference presentations, including four keynote lectures, and his work is widely recognized through invitations to top-tier conferences and guest lectures at leading universities. His numerous research grants and fellowships underscore the international acclaim of his contributions.

Hon’s awards include the Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship (multiple institutions), the Dibner Senior Fellowship, and the NIAS fellowship. His career also includes extended research stays at the Max-Planck Institute for the History of Science and the Zukunftskolleg at Konstanz.
