Gioia Laura Iannilli

Gioia Laura Iannilli is an Associate Professor of Aesthetics at the Department of Philosophy, University of Bologna. Her work bridges pragmatism, everyday aesthetics, and design theory, emphasizing the nexus of sensing-perceiving-expressing in both artistic and designed experiences. She coordinates the Dewey Center Italy and serves on multiple editorial and scientific committees, including Studi di Estetica and the Cassirer Center.

Research Interests: Iannilli’s research explores the aesthetic dimension of everyday life through a pragmatist lens, integrating traditional qualitative analysis with AI-driven methodologies. Key themes include John Dewey’s philosophy, environmental aesthetics, and the intersection of design and perception. She has conducted visiting professorships at institutions like Texas A&M University and Northeastern University.

Teaching & Leadership: She teaches courses on aesthetic history, everyday aesthetics, and design theory at the University of Bologna and Politecnico di Milano. She currently serves as Vice-Director of the First Cycle Degree in Philosophy and Delegate for Students at the Department of Philosophy.

Labs & Collaborations: Active in almæsthetics Research Center and the Everyday Aesthetics Network, she fosters interdisciplinary collaborations in aesthetics and design.
