Dr. Ginna Brock is a Lecturer in English and Creative Writing at the University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC), within the School of Business and Creative Industries. She serves as Program Leader for the Bachelor of Design (Game Design) and contributes to teaching Creative Writing, English, and Game Design courses. Her research explores philosophical concepts of belonging, connectivity in artistic expressions, and representations in script-writing, poetry, and songwriting. She holds a PhD from UniSC, an MComm from UniSC, and a BA (English) from Sonoma State University (California), alongside a Fellowship with the Higher Education Academy since 2017.
Dr. Brock’s research interests include:
- Philosophical frameworks of belonging and spatial identity
- Connections between ancient Greek rituals (e.g., Hestia) and modern identity formation
- Virtual/digital identity in online communities
- Shakespearean pedagogy and familial themes in drama
Her publications span interdisciplinary topics, including:
- Reimagining classical narratives in modern contexts (e.g., asylum seeker stories)
- Impact of digital technologies on learning and identity
- Educational strategies in creative writing and blended learning
Professional memberships include the Australia and New Zealand Shakespeare Association and editorial work for Social Alternatives. Her creative works, such as The Centre: a search for sanctuary, blend classical themes with contemporary social issues through theatre.
