Ginger Schultheis is an Assistant Professor and currently serves as the PhD Placement Director (2025-26) in the Department of Philosophy at the University of Chicago. She holds a BA from Reed College (2011) and a PhD from MIT (2018). Prior to UChicago, she was a Bersoff Fellow at NYU's Philosophy Department (2018-19).
Her research focuses on epistemology, philosophy of language, and philosophical logic, with particular attention to social epistemology, bias in reasoning, and Bayesian approaches to knowledge. She explores questions such as how groups form beliefs, the mechanisms of cognitive biases, and the ethical implications of epistemic injustice.
Teaching highlights include courses on Introduction to Logic, Social Epistemology, and Epistemology of Bias. Recent courses emphasize formal methods and applied ethical dimensions of knowledge. Her work bridges analytical philosophy with contemporary social issues, integrating logical frameworks to address questions of collective rationality and epistemic responsibility.
No specific scientific awards are listed in the provided text. Her advising and grants sections remain unspecified, though her role as PhD Placement Director indicates active involvement in graduate student mentorship.
