Gina Rosich, Ph.D., LMSW, is the Department Chair and Associate Professor of Social Work at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ), where she has served since 2018. She holds a Ph.D. from Fordham University, an MSW from the University of Pennsylvania, and a B.A. from New York University. Her work bridges academia and community practice, with a focus on social work pedagogy, human rights, and LGBTQ+ inclusion.
Dr. Rosich teaches courses such as SOCW 500 (Social Policy), SOCW 503 (Culture, Diversity and Human Rights), and SOCW 590 (Social Work with LGBTQ+ Communities). Her research explores affective learning in diversity education, human rights frameworks in field training, and transgender employment discrimination. Ongoing projects include a Universal Basic Income program, a phenomenological study of the Music Moves Hartford street choir, and an LGBTQ+ content analysis in social work curricula.
She actively collaborates with community organizations like the Hartford LGBTQIA+ Alliance (Board Secretary) and runs a legal clinic for transgender name/gender marker changes, offering students integrated macro-mezzo-micro field experience. Her volunteer mentorship through Immerman Angels and involvement in policy networks like NASW’s ELAN reflect her commitment to social justice advocacy.
