Her research centers on foodborne pathogens Campylobacter jejuni/coli, exploring molecular pathogenesis, evolution, and niche adaptation. Recent collaborative work includes probiotic applications to reduce Campylobacter in food chains. Articles (2002–2022) span genomic epidemiology, virulence mechanisms, and interdisciplinary agricultural polymer science.
Notable awards include Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). Teaching activities include microbiology, pathogenesis, and molecular typing at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She has supervised doctoral candidates, including studies on polyhydroxyalkanoates and undergraduate supervision dynamics.
