Gina M. Wingood is the Sidney and Helaine Lerner Professor of Public Health Promotion at Columbia University, with notable roles as Director of the Lerner Center for Public Health Promotion, Director of the T32 on Social Determinants of HIV, and Co-Director of the HIV Center for Clinical and Behavioral Studies. She holds dual ScD and MPH degrees from Harvard University and the University of California, respectively, with a BA from Boston University. Her work focuses on eliminating health disparities in HIV through culturally tailored interventions, particularly for African American women. Notable contributions include the CDC-endorsed SISTA program and over 350 peer-reviewed publications.
Dr. Wingood’s research emphasizes gender equity, social determinants of health, and the intersection of religion and public health. Her interventions have been implemented globally, reflecting her commitment to evidence-based solutions. She has secured over 20 NIH grants and been recognized with prestigious awards like the John P. McGovern Award and Prevention Pioneer Award.
