Gilmar Cavalcante

Dr. Gilmar Cavalcante serves as an Adjunct Trumpet Professor in the Music, Theatre & Dance Department at Taylor University. He concurrently holds principal trumpet positions with the Manchester Symphony and Anderson Symphony (3rd/Utility Trumpet), while performing as a guest artist with the Kokomo Symphony.

His academic credentials include:

• Certificate of Specialist in Music Education from Universidade Candido Mendes (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)

Dr. Cavalcante's scholarly work bridges performance practice and music entrepreneurship, with research presented at the International Trumpet Guild and Brazilian professional associations. His creative output spans academic publications in the Brazilian Trombone Association Journal, commercial music releases on major streaming platforms, and editorial projects including the 2025 monograph "Music: Art or Market?" that critically examines commercialization in musical arts.

As a performer, he has collaborated with internationally renowned artists including Winton Marsalis and Canadian Brass, recorded with Broadway star Sutton Foster, and maintained an active solo career across North and South America.
