Gillian McMahon

Gillian McMahon is a Lecturer (Education) in the Department of Finance at Queen's Business School, Queen's University Belfast. Her research focuses on the no negative equity guarantee feature of equity release mortgages. She teaches actuarial modelling, actuarial econometrics, and data science at the undergraduate level, and actuarial modelling at the postgraduate level. She currently serves as the Examination Officer for Finance and Actuarial Science programmes.

As a qualified actuary and Fellow of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries, her expertise spans actuarial science and defined benefit pension schemes. Her teaching emphasizes practical applications of actuarial principles, while her research contributes to understanding financial instruments like equity release mortgages.

Responsibilities include academic administration and curriculum development within the Finance department. She actively engages in advancing educational standards in actuarial science and financial risk management.
