معرفی
Professor Gillian Douglas is an Associate Professor of Cardiovascular Science at the University of Oxford and Lecturer in Physiology & Pharmacology at Jesus College. She serves as Deputy Dean of Degrees at Jesus College. Her academic background includes a BSc in Pharmacology from the University of Leeds (2001) and a PhD in Physiology from King's College London (2005). Her research focuses on identifying novel genes linked to coronary artery disease and elucidating their mechanisms through in vitro and in vivo models, including vascular injury and atherosclerosis progression. She supervises DPhil students in Cardiovascular Medicine and teaches undergraduate medical students.
- Education: BSc Pharmacology (Leeds, 2001), PhD Physiology (King's College London, 2005)
Her research interests center on understanding how genetic variants influence cardiovascular disease pathology. She employs primary knockout cells in vitro and murine models in vivo to study gene roles in vascular biology and atherosclerosis. This work aims to uncover new therapeutic targets for coronary artery disease.
Her recent publications highlight studies on genetic mutations in cardiovascular disorders, oxygen sensing mechanisms, and pregnancy-related hypertension. She leads the Douglas Group and collaborates with the Channon Group in cardiovascular genomics.
Professor Douglas also contributes to academic governance as Deputy Dean of Degrees at Jesus College, overseeing undergraduate and postgraduate education.
