Gillean Arnoux serves as an Assistant Director of Seismic Network Operations at the Oregon Hazards Lab and operates the UO Seismic Network for the Pacific Northwest Seismic Network. Based in the Department of Earth Sciences within the University of Oregon's College of Arts and Sciences, Arnoux holds an M.S. in Geophysics and has been affiliated with the university since Fall 2012.
- Education: M.S. Candidate in Geophysics
- Duration at UO: Since Fall 2012

Research Focus
Gillean Arnoux specializes in seismic imaging and geophysical analysis of active tectonic and magmatic environments. Key research areas include:
- Structure and dynamics of mid-ocean ridges
- Magma-hydrothermal-tectonic interactions at spreading centers
- Seismic network optimization for hazard monitoring
- Crustal permeability and melt migration processes
- 3D tomographic imaging of mantle-crust transitions
- Backarc tectonism and volcanic arc geomorphology
Scientific Contributions
Arnoux’s work spans diverse geodynamic settings, from the Endeavour Segment’s magmatic systems to the Hellenic Volcanic Arc’s backarc processes. Their research integrates advanced seismic methods (full-waveform inversion, wide-angle tomography) with field observations to constrain crustal formation mechanisms and hazard mitigation strategies.
