Andrew Gase is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geosciences at Boise State University. His research focuses on tectonics and geodynamics at active plate boundaries, structural analysis of volcanic systems, seismic imaging of the lithosphere, and geophysical data analysis. He leads the Boise State Lab for Seismology and Tectonics (BLAST).
Education:
- Ph.D., Geological Sciences, University of Texas at Austin, 2022
- M.S., Geophysics, Boise State University, 2017
- B.S., Earth and Atmospheric Sciences, Georgia Institute of Technology, 2014
Research Interests: Investigates environmental seismic data from storms in the Northeast Pacific Ocean, tomographic imaging of the Queen Charlotte Fault in Alaska, upper crustal structure of oceanic plateaus, and seismic dynamics of New Zealand’s Hikurangi margin. Uses advanced geophysical techniques to study lithospheric processes.
Advising & Opportunities: Actively recruiting graduate and undergraduate researchers for projects in geophysics. Current opportunities include environmental seismic analysis, tomographic imaging, and crustal structure studies.
Labs/Teams: Directs the BLAST lab, which specializes in seismology and tectonic research.
