Dr. Gilbert Ndi Shang is a researcher in Comparative Literature and African Studies at the University of Bayreuth, affiliated with the Department of Romance Studies. He holds a PhD in Comparative Literature from Bayreuth International School of African Studies (2014) and has conducted postdoctoral research under the Fritz Thyssen Fellowship. His work focuses on postcolonial literature, cultural memory, and decolonial aesthetics, with emphasis on African and Afro-diasporic narratives. Shang has authored/co-edited multiple books including *Memories of Violence in Peru and the Congo* (2021) and contributed to journals such as *Comparative Literature Studies* and *Journal of African Cinemas*. He has held leadership roles in academic networks like the African Good Governance Network and currently serves as Secretary General of JALLA (Jornadas Andinas de Literatura) for Africa Section.
Shang’s research spans topics like violence representation, postcolonial identity, and transnational cultural dialogues. He has organized conferences, workshops, and lectures across Europe and Latin America, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to African studies. Awards include the DAAD Preis 2013 and a nomination to the Alexander von-Humboldt Alumni Meeting. Teaching experience includes courses on African Poetry and Francophone Literature, reflecting his commitment to pedagogical outreach in cultural studies.
