Gifty Adjei-Mensah is a Lecturer in the Accounting Department at the University of Southampton. She holds a PhD in Accounting from the University of Southampton, an MSc in International Business from Lancaster University, and an MPhil in Finance from the University of Ghana Business School. A Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), she has over eight years of experience in teaching, research, and enterprise. Her research focuses on governance, financial reporting, sustainability reporting, and corporate finance, particularly exploring how accounting systems impact economic outcomes in developing/emerging economies. She investigates topics like corporate social health reporting's impact on performance, gender/cultural influences on ESG outcomes, and tax policies' role in sustainability.
Teaching responsibilities include Advanced Management Accounting and prior courses such as Introduction to Accounting & Finance, Intermediate Financial Accounting, and Professional Skills in Accounting. She actively supervises PhD students in Business Studies & Management. Her career includes roles as a Lecturer at Lancaster University Ghana Campus and Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Southampton.
Research contributions span peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and a thesis, with methodologies combining quantitative and mixed approaches. She participates in interdisciplinary projects like the RECIRCULATE eco-innovation initiative and serves as a peer-reviewer for Cogent Business & Management and Business Ethics, Environment & Responsibility. Awards include FHEA recognition for academic excellence.
