Giang Vo-Thanh is a Professor at Université Paris-Saclay, affiliated with the Institut de Chimie Moléculaire et des Matériaux d'Orsay (ICMMO) and the Laboratoire de Chimie Moléculaire (LCM). He holds a M.Sc. (1994) and Ph.D. (1997) from Université Pierre et Marie Curie (Paris VI). After postdoctoral fellowships, he became an Assistant Professor at Université Paris-Sud in 2001, obtained his Habilitation in 2006, and was appointed Full Professor in 2007.
His research focuses on synthetic methodology, including chiral ionic liquids for asymmetric synthesis, biomass-derived chiral ligands, and bioactive molecules. Notable contributions include organocatalytic cascade reactions, enantioselective catalysis, and green chemistry innovations. He has secured grants such as the Roquette Research Fund and PES awards, and received prestigious recognitions like the Green Chemistry Award (2009) and top-cited paper accolades (2007).
He supervises doctoral students and postdocs, contributing to interdisciplinary projects in catalysis and materials science. His lab explores applications in drug delivery (e.g., graphene quantum dots for anticancer therapy) and sustainable chemical processes.
