His research centers on Renaissance Italian and Latin literature, with a strong focus on classical reception, particularly the influence of Horace and Ovid. He investigates Petrarchism, Neo-Latin poetry, early modern exegesis, Latin translations of vernacular literature, and manuscript and print culture. His work reveals the intricate interplay between classical models and Renaissance creativity, especially in poetic form and rhetorical strategy.
The trends in his recent publications highlight a consistent engagement with textual transmission, translation, and adaptation across Latin and Italian in the 15th to 17th centuries. His articles explore how authors reinterpreted classical and vernacular works through imitation, parody, and commentary, often within specific cultural and institutional contexts such as academies or courts. He frequently analyzes the material aspects of texts, including paratexts and manuscript provenance.
