معرفی
Prof. Gertjan van Dijk is a Professor at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Science and Engineering, affiliated with the Groningen Institute for Evolutionary Life Sciences. His research focuses on integrative neurobiology of energy balance, behavioral energetics, obesity, and functional foods. He holds a professorial chair in Energy Balance and coordinates the Neurobiology group within GELIFES.
Education: Cluster coordinator for Neurobiology and track coordinator for Biology of Food and Nutrition in the Biomedical Sciences Master program. His teaching includes courses on Integrative Neuroscience, Principles of Physiology, and Neurobiology of Nutrition.
Research Interests: Investigates how external influences interact with brain and peripheral organ processes to regulate energy intake, expenditure, and storage. Key areas include metabolic programming, gut-brain axis interactions, and the impact of diet on healthspan. Uses rodent models and cell lines to study cellular mechanisms.
Grants & Collaboration: Leads projects on metabolic programming and fitness, collaborating with institutions like the UMCG. His work addresses developmental plasticity and its role in health adaptation.
Labs: Heads the Van Dijk Lab - Integrative Neurobiology of Energy Balance, focusing on translational research linking basic science to clinical implications in metabolic disorders.
