Gerry Krzic is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Linguistics and serves as the Director of the Ohio Program of Intensive English (OPIE) at Ohio University’s College of Arts and Sciences, Athens Campus. He also holds the position of Visiting Assistant Professor in Linguistics and has previously served as Study Abroad Coordinator for the Japan Program. His work is centered on intercultural education and English language instruction.
Research Interests: Gerry specializes in intercultural communication, particularly between Japanese and North Americans, and Koreans and North Americans. He has deep expertise in Japanese and Korean language and culture, having taught related courses and developed intercultural training programs. His focus extends to ESL/EFL teacher training across international contexts, especially in Eastern Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
Throughout his career, Gerry has been actively involved in professional development and cross-cultural consultation. He has conducted teacher training under the United States Information Agency (USIA), contributed to the University Consortium for Intensive English Programs (UCIEP), and supported Peace Corps volunteer training. His presentations at major conferences such as TESOL, NAFSA, and RP-ALLA reflect his leadership in adult language learning and global education.
