Gerhard Krieger

Gerhard Krieger is a Professor at Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen and Head of the Radar Concepts Department at DLR’s Microwaves and Radar Institute. He holds a Dr.-Ing. from TU Munich and has pioneered advancements in radar systems, including the TanDEM-X and Tandem-L missions. His work focuses on bistatic/multistatic SAR, digital beamforming, and spaceborne radar technologies. Krieger leads international collaborations for projects like Tandem-L, aiming to monitor Earth’s dynamic processes. His research spans SAR imaging techniques, UAV-based radar systems, and planetary exploration. He has authored over 90 journal papers, 400 conference papers, and received IEEE Fellow status, multiple best-paper awards, and nominations for innovation awards. Key contributions include TanDEM-X’s global DEM and disruptive SAR concepts for climate monitoring.
