Dr. Gerd Müller is a Research Scientist at the Meteorological Institute (University of Hamburg) since March 2003. He holds a PhD (1995) and Diplom (1991) in Meteorology from the University of Hamburg, focusing on mesoscale cellular convection and atmospheric boundary layer dynamics. His work spans atmospheric turbulence, cyclone dynamics, Arctic sea ice interactions, and numerical modeling. He has led or contributed to major projects like NARVAL, FRAMZY, and DAMOCLES, involving field experiments in polar regions. Key collaborations include the Max Planck Institute for Meteorology and international initiatives like ACSYS. His research integrates observational data from aircraft, buoys, and satellites with advanced modeling to understand climate-relevant processes in ocean-atmosphere systems.
