Gerardo (Gerry) Stecca is a Foundation Studies Professor at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) since August 2018. He holds an M.F.A. in painting from SCAD and a B.A. in visual arts from the University of California, San Diego. His career spans over three decades as a fine artist and educator, with additional roles including exhibitions coordinator at the Deering Estate and curator for various institutions.
Stecca’s creative practice focuses on sculpture, murals, and public art installations. Notable projects include Terminal E Installation at Miami International Airport, murals for United Way initiatives, and participation in Art Basel Miami. He has curated exhibitions at venues like the Black Police and Courthouse Museum and led artist residencies at the Deering Estate. His work has been featured in media such as Travel Channel’s Dead Files and The Miami Herald.
He has received recognition for his volunteer contributions, including the 2011 Volunteer Artist of the Year award. His teaching and curatorial roles emphasize bridging artistic innovation with community engagement.
