Margaret Evans

Margaret (Maggie) Evans serves as Professor of Foundation Studies at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) since Fall 2022, following over a decade as Part-time Professor (2009–10, 2012–22). Her academic career centers on visual arts education within SCAD's Foundation Studies department.

Evans' artistic practice explores social psychology through painting and installation art, with recurring themes of collective behavior, human hierarchies, and spatial relationships. Her research manifests in solo exhibitions like Collective Behavior (2018) and Status and Sameness (2017), examining behavioral patterns and social structures through contemporary realism.

Her publication trends reveal consistent engagement with Southern art scenes and psychological themes, particularly between 2014–2020. The body of work demonstrates interdisciplinary connections between visual arts, sociology, and spatial theory, with increasing focus on anxiety in contemporary society as evidenced by her 2020 exhibition Please Form a Straight Line.
