Gerard Madlambayan is a Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Oakland University, where he conducts research on cancer stem cells and tumor microenvironments. His laboratory investigates how bone marrow-derived stem cells contribute to certain cancers (lung and pancreatic) but not others (melanoma), and how endothelial progenitor cells influence blood-related cancers. A unique aspect of his research involves studying regenerative microenvironments using salamander/axolotl models (Ambystoma Mexicanum) to understand why these environments resist cancer growth.
