Gerard Kennedy is an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Health and Biomedical Sciences at RMIT University. His research focuses on clinical psychology, sleep disorders, circadian rhythms, and their intersections with public health and pharmacology. He is particularly known for studies on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) for insomnia in cancer patients, acupuncture efficacy, and the impact of social disadvantage on sleep-related cardiovascular risks. His work spans systematic reviews of complementary therapies, disaster mental health interventions, and behavioral analyses of patient engagement with alternative treatments.
Teaching interests include clinical psychology, sleep medicine, and the biological basis of behavior. He is open to supervising PhD/Masters students in topics like CBT effectiveness in oncology settings. His recent publications (2023-2025) emphasize evidence-based evaluations of traditional and digital therapies, with a focus on marginalized populations such as wildfire survivors and perimenopausal women.
