Daniel Vethe is a Clinical Psychologist and PhD fellow at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU), affiliated with the Institute of Mental Health. He conducts research in the research group for sleep and circadian rhythm research at Østmarkveien 15, Trondheim.
His primary research interests include:
- Light, circadian rhythms and mental health, particularly the effects of exposure to blue-blocked evening lighting
- Insomnia treatment with cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I) delivered over the internet
- Relationship between sleep and fatigue, especially in chronic fatigue conditions
Dr. Vethe's work examines why CBT-I works for people with sleep problems, for whom it works best, and what additional positive effects improved sleep might have. He is actively involved in large treatment studies on blue-blocked evening lighting for patients in acute psychiatry settings.
His publications demonstrate expertise across multiple dimensions of sleep research:
- Integration of treatment, innovation and sleep research in hospital design (2019)
- Comparative effectiveness of therapist-delivered versus automated online CBT-I programs (2018)
- Relationship between insomnia severity improvement and long-term outcomes in chronic fatigue treatment (2018)
Dr. Vethe maintains an active professional presence through academic publications and social media where he shares insights on light, circadian rhythms, and sleep research, contributing to both clinical practice and public understanding of sleep medicine.
