Georine Pierre

Georine Pierre is a full-time Researcher at the MIT Media Lab's City Science Group, where she focuses on experimental urbanisms, ecological urgency, and technology. Previously, she served as an Associate Research Scholar at Columbia University’s Center for Resilient Cities and Landscapes. Her work addresses climate change, urbanization, and equitable solutions for informal settlements globally.

Her research explores urban mining, e-waste sector dynamics in West Africa, and collaborative frameworks for informal urban systems. She contributes to initiatives like the “Power of Without,” a roadmap for global informal settlements. Her methodologies include material innovation, ecological research, and public intervention strategies.

Collaborations include the World Wildlife Fund, Resilient Cities Network, and UC Berkeley's Y-Plan. Her work emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to sustainability and urban resilience.
