Georgios Efthyvoulou

Georgios Efthyvoulou is a Senior Lecturer in Economics at the University of Sheffield's School of Economics, where he has been since 2012, and was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2021. He holds a PhD in Economics from Birkbeck University of London and is a Research Fellow at the Sheffield Political Economy Research Institute (SPERI). His academic background includes a BA from the University of Cyprus (2003), an MSc in Economics from University College London (2005), and a research fellowship at the University of Birmingham (2010–2012).

Georgios' research focuses on political economy, with key interests in terrorism's societal impacts, migration patterns, electoral behavior, and public opinion dynamics. He also explores topics in international business and banking. Notably, he leads an ESRC-funded project examining the effects of terrorism on public attitudes and well-being in Great Britain (2021–2023).

His teaching contributions include undergraduate modules on Political Economy and Economics Dissertation, as well as postgraduate courses in applied macroeconometrics and business finance. He emphasizes integrating contemporary research into his pedagogy to foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Georgios' academic engagements include affiliations with SPERI and contributions to interdisciplinary research networks focused on political economy challenges.
